Acknowledgement where acknowledgement is due – the Beautiful Bloggers Award

By

I am a great believer in acknowledging, rewarding and thanking others when they have done something worth doing so.

I also really like it when I am acknowledged for something I have done, so it was really lovely to have reiceved the Beautiful Blogger Award from fellow blogger, Katharyn Brine because, and I quote Katharyn, I am:

(F**ing hilarious about modern motherhood!)

This is the Award she bestowed upon me. Isn’t it pretty:

Thank you, Katharyn, it really  means a lot to me.

Part of this award is to share 10 things about me. Possibly 10 things you don’t already know. Hrm.

  1. Chocolate teddy bear biscuits are my favourite form of stress relief
  2. I love sauvingnon blanc, preferably the Marlborough, New Zealand kind
  3. Dark chocolate 75% cocoa minimum is one of my main food groups
  4. When Arnott’s make choc teddy bear biscuits using dark chocolate, I will be in stress-relief heaven
  5. I only ever drink coffee out of MUG, and if MUG is not available, I have a tantrum
  6. I went to several Uncanny X-Men concerts in my youth and I enjoyed them (I was 13, give me a break)
  7. I have a tattoo
  8. I really do laugh a lot at my life …. it’s that or slit my wrists
  9. As much as I LOVE to cook, I really suck at it
  10. I say “fuck” a lot

The other part of this award is to pass it on to 10 other bloggers. Unfortunately, I am very busy and important and don’t read many other blogs. And the blogs I do read, I’m not sure that they’d appreciate a Beautiful Blogger Award. Or maybe the would.

I will pass the Beautiful Blogger Award on to one of my gorgeous friends, Stacey over at Sunny Mummy

As for the rest of my fellow bloggers I do read when I can (ie when I am desperate for a need to procrastinate and they offer me the perfect opportunity) I will pass on this Award. This particular Award was the inspiration of a fellow mummy blogger, Mrs Woog, because we didn’t make another top 50 blogger list, and whom recently gave me vodka, and bestowed upon me by the fabulous Anne of CleverStreak because, well I asked her to create the Award for me, and she did because it is what she does best. In fact, I would go so far as to say she ROCKS! when it comes to this sort of thing.

Edited to add, because it was in my head and I forgot to say it out loud. I do that often…

There is actual criteria for being a recipient of this award, other than being a Mad Mum Blogger, being kitchen-deficiant and having a penchant for vodka.

Award Criteria:

  • they are honest and open and non-judgemental, and not scared to tell it like it really is (and no fluff)
  • they make the rest of us grateful and laugh that “it’s not me” (at least not this time)
  • they can laugh at themselves and make the rest of us feel normal. Ish.

They really are very special people.

It is for this reason I hereby, I present this Award to my fellow mum bloggers:

Woogsworld - for being a Mad fucking mummy blogger who can’t cook for shit and LOVES VODKA

The NDM - see above (although, not sure if she can cook or not. Fairly sure she likes vodka, and she says ‘fuck’ and makes me laugh. A LOT!)

Candy’s Family – (it’s funny becuase it’s NOT me!)

and … Good Golly Miss Holly - ditto

I’m sure there’s more … I have an hour to shower, get dressed, wrangle 3 kids to ditch one at a birthday party for the afternoon, and, in the immediate future, either stop child 1 from braining child 2 because he seems incapable of stopping humming the Mario Bros. tune. That, or mop up the blood before I shower.

I have no idea what the rules are for this Award … other than blog about it, put the ‘badge’ on your site, display how awesome you are and pass it on. When we reach 10, I have a “Top 10″ Award that goes with it.

Pass it on to whomever you think deserving. Make up something they have to do as a recipient of the Award.

Make sure you tell me about it, link back to me (not necessary – I jsut wanna know who has the award and why) or email me or something.

(Or take the Beautiful Blogger Award .. either way!)

  1. Candy says:

    Awesome.
    Love it.
Am working out who I shall nominate for it right now.
    Thank you :)

And yay for my first little award jpeg :) Squee!

  2. Dear Mad Cow,

Your award made my day, especially because it gave me licence to open the duty-free bottle of vodka my friend bought me.

You can read my post about your blog award at http://notdrowning.wordpress.com/2010/08/15/passing-the-buck/ where I am running an exciting (= lame-arsed) competition to discover a new recipient.

    Love

    The NDM

  3. Got to love a F&^king cool award.
I don’t drink at the moment, but I have many lovely long suffering friends who are in need of a vodka drink right now. I would love to get an award, because let’s face it, I don’t have any on my blog (and the only previous award I’ve ever received for on another blog and it was from a dog). And I would love to invite my BFFs over so they can sup on vodka and share their troubles. So much cheaper and nicer than a therapist!

  4. Mad Cow says:

Candy & NDM – t’is my pleasure to award those most deserving this illustrious Award.

MIA – unfortunatley, I have run out of sauvignong blanc at home and cannot think clearly. Please send a case, STAT, and I shall immediately send you an Award.

    :D
