I got stuck on top of a bridge, and that’s why I was home 7 hours late
ByUp early, sadly not having had a fabulous sleep. It was, however, not all bad; no kids, no snoring, and no being farted on.
Nice.
Hopped in a taxi, where we sent a text to Coke Dude with our coffee orders, only to be told “bad, stay up late mummies don’t get coffee!” I have no idea who he was referring to, as it would never have been us.
Into the new presentation room, where we are informed we are the very first to have been presented to in the room and feeling very special, we lie back on the couch – as it was designed for – and got to watch the visual presentation in a lying-y down position as the visual bit was displayed on the roof.
Thankfully, it was an enthralling and exciting presentation, as the lie-y down state of us could have easily resulted in a somewhat sleepy-y state.
It was then off to the Sydney Cricket Ground where we caught up with the Expedition 206 Happiness Ambassadors (whose job it is to travel the wold and find out what makes people happy) and a bunch of awesome people and just as awesome underprivileged kids from Beyond Empathy where we painted some Coke bottles and made an echidna out of them, and had a “sausage sizzle” in the Coca-Cola suite at the SCG. For the record, a “sausage sizzle” of this calibre consists of gourmet sausages and not a bbq in site, cutlery, crockery of the crockery and not paper kind and linen napkins. Also, some very scrumtions salads, and forcing the Happiness Ambassadors (of which there were only two, as Kelly was unable to attend the day) to eat Vegemite.
It was then onto the ground for a bit of a kick of the footy and absolutely no appreciation for the fact that I was extremely thankful to be out of Melbourne and away from the AFL.
*sigh*
Still, made the most of it, and was advised by Coke Dude that I “don’t kick too bad, for a girl”. Nice.
My threats to tantrum – or quite possibly the tantrum itself – had Coke Dude approach me and mention a spot available on the Bridge Climb and do I want it.
HELL YES!
This required some precision rescheduling of plane flights and some car hopping and sharing to ensure I made the climb, and get back to collect my bag and to the airport on time.
None of which I had to manage, thus leaving me free to embark on some Happy Dancing and much squealing in excitement. Stacey was to join me and Brenda was off for some pampering in teh form of a massage. Tempting … but the opportunity was too much to pass up.
Flights and cars sorted, Coke Dude asked if I needed to contact anyone to let them know I’d be home late.
“Umm. Errrmm. Um, nope.”
“You don’t need to call home and let them know you’ll be home much later?”
Who? Ummmm. Ahahahah. Ah, yeah, them, I’d forgotten about them, what with the full day I’ve had.
“Oh, yeah, them. Sure, I’ll ring them.”
The bridge climb was totally fabulous, and we got to see the city of Sydney in daylight, sunset and darkness. I. Had. FUN!
Arrive a the airport, where there was hardly any form of life, am asked to “please come over here” to be checked for explosives residue again! and am advise that it is my smile. I’ve just had an extremely full and busy day, and had the most fabulous time! With no kids. I can’t help the maniacal quality of my smile after such experiences!
It doesn’t make me a psychopath at all.
Anyhoo, I complied, and was, surprisingly, explosives residue free, but did make the Explosive Residue Checker’s day. Or so she said. At least she was smiling when she let me go (and not dragging me off to be checked further).
And that is how I ended up getting home over seven hours after I had been scheduled to arrive home.
It is how I arrived home near 1am and not 6pm, to find, in my bed, three bodies. So I went and has a nice, relaxing bath, removed children and went to bed, tired, but happy.
(Here’s a bit of a snapshot/slideshow of the last two Live Positively days/experience …

Awesome slideshow-age, Ms Mad Cow!!
