About Me
Mad Cow, commonly referred to as Amanda Cox and some other things that are probably best not repeated, is the mum to three boys, wife to a chef, an entrepreneur, a Live Positively Ambassador for Coca-Cola, an author and speaker. And President of The Bad Mother’s Club.
Her life before kids included going out for dinner at 8.30pm, wearing lycra and yelling at people a lot in her role as a personal trainer and “group exercise leader” when it was still called aerobics, and helping people organise their weddings.
She gave up her role as manager of a corporate gym to give birth and commence a uni degree in Health Promotion, majoring in Family, Society and Health. During this time she dabbled in a bout of post-natal depression and had a second baby, securing a four-week extension on her latest assignment.
Reading just about every parenting book available at the time, and embarking on a mission to be the best mother in the world, she came to the conclusion that the concept is a myth. Rather than wallow in the black pit of despair, she started up reality parenting website RealMums.com.au, and created a safe haven for all Australian mums: The Bad Mother’s Club. Then she had another baby…
Diary of a Mad Cow is the name of her book and her personal blog, which she has used – and still does – to remind herself to see the funny side of life with three boys, and to prevent her from the slippery slide into depression. Again.
Amanda has decided if people are going to view her as a Bad Mother because of their own stuff, she’s going to make the most of it and have a laugh along the way. If she aids other mums in the process, well that’s just a bonus.
Mad Cow (Amanda) is available for keynote speaking, events (fundraising or otherwise) or to bring some fun and reality to your next pre-school AGM. She says “f**k” a lot. If you want the f**k-free version, she may charge extra.
To book Amanda for your event, contact madcow@inspirationalcomedy.com or 02 8084 1100.
