In one of my – clearly irrational – moments, I agreed to volunteer for the Walking School Bus program. We had the training this morning.
The school principal and I had worked out the route, which starts, inevitably, in front of a pub. We couldn’t publicise that though. Particularly not with me as the driver.
We went through all the rules, regulations and responsibilities of the driver and conductor. We were presented with our lovely, flourescent orange jackets we got to wear on the “bus”. We were then told we were not allowed to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs while we were “driving” the “bus” to school.
What …? We have to walk a bunch of primary school kids to school, wearing a bright orange and yellow vest and we’re not allowed a drink?
Some people just have no idea!
