Business/social catch up this afternoon, a few things acheived, toddler had sleep, had extra small person after school whilst I did a radio interview with Martin King over at MTR pertaining to the now Gone On Far Too Long blah blah over an article written by Jacinta Tynan about how fabulously easy motherhood is, and wishing I could have spoken with her personally and offered her an experience with reality in the form of my Not Quite Two Year Old.
Checked emails and the school newsletter popped into my inbox.
I had chosen the “yes, I will be a responsible parent and go the environmentally friendly option of receiving the school newsletter, even though you print more than you need to and they sit at the office and confuse me when I pick one up and read it and its three years old, then neglect to read newsletter in my inbox anyway and wonder why I don’t know things along the lines of the kids are having a day off yesterday due to some brilliant idea of the ‘system’ about somethiing called the ‘ultranet’ and leaving me wondering what to do yesterday morning with a half made Vegemite sandwich and two extra kids when my day was already planned” option of receiving the school newsletter.
Having had several glasses of wine, I had been hoping for an lovely email from Jacinta Tynan or something exciting.
The newsletter and several offers to sell me viagra (I don’t think so!) were there.
The newsletter failed me.
I had been hoping for an announcement from the principal informing us “Day off to learn ultranet a big fuckup!”
Sadly, it didn’t. And it shall remain in my inbox, unprinted, and I will fail to look at it and have no clue as to what is happening at school in the next fortnight.
